1730368668 POWER AND STRUGGLE IN CONTEMPORARY PAINTING: BOXING DYNAMICS AND AESTHETICS

Boxing is not only a physical struggle, but also an art form that pushes the aesthetic limits of the human body and symbolizes the expression of spiritual conflicts. This characteristic of boxing has been a powerful source of inspiration for painting. By reconstructing the intense emotional and physical dynamics of boxers' moments of struggle on canvas, painters have made visible both the aesthetic expressions in the athlete's body language and their inner conflicts and strong emotions through an artistic interpretation. The representations of boxing in art, which began in ancient times, have gone beyond physical strength and presented the deep struggles of the human spirit and the aesthetic dynamism of the body in a visual expression. Boxing's relationship with power, movement and aesthetics has played an important role in painting throughout history. In contemporary art, artists who deal with the subject of boxing emphasize the violent and brutal nature of boxing, focus on the aesthetic structure of boxing, and depict the physical and psychological struggles of boxers in an impressive way. In this study, the works of artists such as John Hoppner, Théodore Géricault, Willy Sluiter, George Wesley Bellows, Laura Knight, Alfred Reginald Thomson and Tayfun Pirselimoğlu are analyzed descriptively. These artists have reflected the dynamic nature of boxing, its rhythmic structure and the muscular movements of the human body in their works with an aesthetic perspective. This study, which examines the relationship between art and sports in depth, reveals how boxing is handled in art not only as a means of struggle, but also as an aesthetic and dynamic form of expression.
