1729539179 COMPARISON OF VALUES IN THE INTRODUCTION TO THE DEDE KORKUT BOOK WITH CONTEMPORARY VALUES IN THE MINISTRY OF NATIONAL EDUCATION'S VALUES EDUCATION TEXTBOOK AND THE PERSONALITY OF DEDE KORKUT

This article examines the identification of values in the "Mukaddime" section of the Dede Korkut Book (Dede Korkut Stories) and their contemporary relevance. The contemporary values considered are those found in the MEB Values Education Curriculum: Core Values Themed Activity Book', including love, helpfulness, self-control, justice, patience, respect, responsibility, friendship, patriotism and honesty. The study identifies whether these values are present or absent in the Mukaddime section of the Dede Korkut Stories and explores other values highlighted in this section. Specifically, the values observed in Dede Korkut's character in the Mukaddime section, such as wisdom, leadership, foresight and authority, were compared with those in the MEB activity book. It was found that these values are not listed as core values in the MEB curriculum, but are implicit in other core values. In addition, the Mukaddime section clearly emphasises the importance of family unity, loyalty to the state and hospitality. It was found that hospitality is not listed as a core value in the MEB values curriculum, but is implicitly included within 'respect' and 'helpfulness'. The study compares the values in the Dede Korkut book with contemporary educational values and makes recommendations on how these values can be integrated into the lives of individuals. This research highlights how the cultural and educational contributions of Dede Korkut can be reflected in contemporary educational systems.
