Every society looks at the world with a certain point of view. Lifestyle which has developed to depend on geography and climate are the main components of this perspective. Culture that is its broadest definition, is the set of values which contains all the elements accumulated. In this context, one of the material cultural elements that show the world view and life style of the Kyrgyz society. One of them is Kyrgyz women’s headwear. Headwear culture that has deep-rooted history, adds value and richness to tradition today as it did in the past. Headwear which is accepted as both clothes and accessories, has a variety of functions with their usage and symbols they carry. Kyrgyz women’s headwear is one of the material elements of Kyrgyz culture. Kyrgyz who are a nomadic community, attributes various meaning to the headwear which is one of the supplementary elements of the women’s clothing belonging to their own culture, they have diversified their headwear according to the geography and climate throught the history. In addition to the unique ethnographic characteristics of Kyrgyz women’s headwear, it also carries similar characteristics to other Turkish societies. Namings that are in Kyrgyz women’s headwear, are evaluated in terms of Turkish langauge, different results may occur. When these cultural elements are examined in terms of language characteristics, the qualities and quantities of Kyrgyz culture can be explained in more detail. In this study, with the usage of women’s headwear that is one of the material cultural elements of Kyrgyz culture, headwear names from the basic vocabulary of a language and etiomologies are examined.
