1710408842 AN EVALUATION ON THE OCULARCENTRIC TRANSFORMATION OF THE SOUND MIXING PROCESS

The process of sound recording began with Edison's first recording in 1877 and has since driven the emergence of many specialisations in sound production. One of the most important and sophisticated of these specialisations is sound mixing, which became a professional field in the 1960s but had its foundations laid about a century ago. However, this hundred-year period is also acknowledged as a time of rapid change and transformation in almost every field. It is believed that sound production processes have been significantly influenced by the changes and transformations mentioned in both production and consumption contexts. The production and consumption of sound or music have long been shaped by sensory modality. However, the production and consumption dynamics have changed significantly with the inclusion of computer systems in the sound production chain. This change can be seen as a natural consequence of technological innovation. If this change indicates a modality shift in production processes, investigating the possible reasons for this situation is necessary. In this context, it is believed that music production processes are influenced by visualisation, which is referred to as the 'truth regime' of our age. The phenomenon of sound mixing, considered an important link in the music production chain, has also experienced a paradigm shift in terms of the sensory modality used in the application processes. Although technological innovations may appear to be the driving force behind this transformation, the study suggests that there may be other factors at play. The main idea is that the change in question is not solely dependent on technology. In this regard, the study aims to explore these other parameters and their potential impact.
