1708189261 FLANEUR THOUGHT IN MUSTAFA KUTLU'S STORY TITLED HUZURSUZ BACAK

One of the important names of post-1960 Turkish storytelling is Mustafa Kutlu. The author, who deals with themes such as Anatolian people, social change, tradition and Islamic values, the pains of modernization, and migration in his stories, has used a very simple and fluent style in his works. In many of his stories, Mustafa Kutlu deals with sociological and psychological changes in Turkey, where the post-1980 neoliberal economy was felt. The protagonist of the story has returned to his country after many years and was unaware of the changes in his homeland. While traveling around the city where he was born and grew up and meeting with his old friends, he witnesses the change in space and mentality. The protagonist's urban wanderings and his observations of the city and the people he knows make him the type of flaneur that emerged with modernity, as conceptualized by Walter Benjamin. This article will focus on the idea of the flaneur in the story entitled Huzursuz Bacak (Restless Leg).
