1706017897 AN INTERDISCIPLINARY TRANSFORMATION: FROM PICASSO'S PALLET TO İLHAN BERK'S LINES

The artist creates an image from the images, events and facts that come to his mind by mentally filtering what he sees in his inner world or the outside world. Each artist expresses these images with materials appropriate to his own branch of art, or can transform them by taking inspiration from a different branch of art. Different branches of art interact with each other. It is possible to see this sometimes in a poem composed and sometimes in a novel adapted to cinema. The relationship between literature and painting has been a subject of research in every period, starting from the Antiquity. The poets of the “İkinci Yeni” movement, were also interested in painting as well as poetry. In this study, it is aimed to examine the poem "Guernica" which is written by İlhan Berk, one of the leading poets of the “İkinci Yeni” movement, inspired by Pablo Picasso's work "Guernica", in the context of interdisciplinary transformation. In the study, a literature review was conducted and document analysis method was used as a data collection tool. The reflection of Picasso's painting on Berk's poems is one of the examples of the transformation from painting to poetry. Berk was impressed by Picasso's "Guernica", which he created as a reaction to the Spanish Civil War, and conveyed the painting to the reader through his own filter. This poem by İlhan Berk is an auditory interpretation of Picasso's painting. Berk transforms what he sees in the painting into words and gives it a new form. While doing this, he does not leave himself and the painter out. Now the poet and the painter are included in the work and there is much more than a painting or a poem.
