Emili Nasrallah, who draws attention with examples of successful stories in modern Arabic literature, is one of the activist women writers who made an impact with her novels as well as her story collections. Nasrallah's collection titled al-Mar'a fî 17 kıssa (Women in 17 Stories), in which she collects 17 stories about the oppression of women, includes subjects such as the oppressions against women, the fears brought about by the civil war in Lebanon, where he was born and raised, and the refugee problem. In this study, which will examine the first story of the collection, es-Sâhrâ (Desert), Nasrallah's deep descriptions and brave pen will be evaluated in the context of this story. In this story, which includes both eastern melodies and western modernity, the path that women walk in the Arab world and the obstacles they encounter on this path are conveyed through the motif of the "desert". The author, by not clearly listing the dangers that a woman may face in her lifetime, told about a short journey she made in the "desert" that she chose as the place, and made the reader feel her mental state by portraying the natural beings such as animals and plants that came across the woman during this journey.
