Recent research has shown that perceived supervisor coaching behavior leads to thriving at work, but little is known about the mediating and moderating mechanisms underlying this process. This research aims to determine the effect of perceived supervisor coaching behavior on employee motivation and thriving at work, the mediating role of motivation in the effect of perceived supervisor coaching behavior on thriving at work, and the differentiation of this indirect effect by gender. Data were collected from 333 (F:225 M:108) public school teachers using convenience and snowball sampling techniques. Process Macro Model 4 mediation, Model 1 moderation, and Model 7 moderated mediation regression analyses were used to test the hypotheses. The results showed that perceived supervisor coaching behavior positively affects thriving at work and motivation. In addition, it revealed the mediating role of motivation in the effect of perceived supervisor coaching behavior on thriving at work. As a result of the moderated mediation analysis, there is a significant difference between women and men in terms of the indirect effect of perceived supervisor coaching behavior on thriving at work through motivation. While the mediating role of motivation in the effect of perceived supervisor coaching behavior on thriving at work is significant in male employees, it is not significant in female employees.
