The life style and expectations of the society, political, economic situation and dominant culture in the society affect the performance of art. Cinema has affects all positive and negative changes in society. Since the beginning of the 1970s, negative situations such as migration, industrialization, shanty housing and poverty have caused the directors to arabesque cinema due to various social and economic reasons. The vocal artists of the period who could not find opportunity to appear on television sustained their popularity and made their compositions public by playing starring roles in such movies. This study focuses on the arabesque music which took part in Turkish cinema from the 1970s to the end of 1980s. In this study, literature review is made and general characteristics and structure of arabesque cinema is emphasized. In the history of Turkish cinema, the artifacts determined by the arabesque music phenomenon were searched through discourse analysis.
