1568583087 TRANSPORTATION MAPS AS INFO GRAPHICS AND APPLICATION PROPOSAL FOR ORDU URBAN TRANSPORT

There are a number of new challenges that need to be solved when developing urban areas and expanding residential areas. The individual in an effort to keep pace with the fast flowing urban life depending on the development needs more and more every day purified information to facilitate the daily life. The most popular areas for this need are the urban public transportation systems. It is seen that modern transportation maps are designed in order to understand the complex routes in different types of transportation systems developed in order to overcome the urban transportation difficulties in a faster and easier way. As an orientation chart, these transportation maps, an important element of the information design, are a means of information that makes life easier in the dazzling traffic of the modern world and visuals. With the help of the transportation maps, people can easily and quickly learn the lines or lines to the point they want to reach at the point. These maps cater to a broad target audience without age, gender or language. For this reason, transportation maps should have a simple, clear, understandable design that uses international common graphic codes (ideogram, icon, symbol, pictogram, color, etc.) to have a universal visual language. Nowadays, transportation maps are widely used for rail and light rail systems such as metro and tramway, while it is rarely used for highway public transportation. This research suggests the application of a graphical guidance system for highway public transport, based on the same graphical analysis approach, by analyzing the modern transportation maps designed by Harry Beck for the London subway in 1931, the first example of which is now widely used. For this application proposal, the city bus transportation system of the city of Ordu was selected as a sample.
