Textile, that's origins have been based on the existence of humanity, has a strong role as a communication and transmission tool in addition to providing for needs such as clothing or covering and has come until today. In this process, with the development of a wide variety of materials and techniques, the richness of it has increased and become a matter of fact with unique values from various cultures and geographies. In this long process, textile art has transformed and evolved and has been a reflection of the periods in which it existed. Therefore, textile is a means of transmission with great potentials for artists according to both the materials and techniques. Textile art, one of the most common and creative art forms in the world with its diversity and continuity, is an interdisciplinary platform in contemporary creation that explores new possibilities and expressions that combine tradition and future. Many artists seek to make new creations by making choices that serve to express their new perspectives and serve their viewpoints and objectives most appropriately with materials and techniques primarily associated with handicrafts. In case, they support the concepts they want to emphasize and the effects they want to create with the changes in communication and technology. In this study, the boundaries and bonds between traditional and popular cultures which is included in textile art are focused by new generation textiles and mixed media artists will be searched. The works of artists and designers who are involved in interdisciplinary art that link to the future from tradition, consist of non-traditional materials, as well as new, old and reclaimed yarns and fabrics, as well as leading to global visual culture, will be explained with examples.
