1531346504 THE IMPORTANCE OF PHILOSOPHICAL APPROACHES IN MUSIC EDUCATION

To express the organic ties of an art period with philosophy reveals the concept of thought of that art period. It is important to examine certain musical periods together with philosophical thoughts in the same period, in order to express the relation of music with philosophical thinking styles as it is in any art branch. This "common period" mentality can express to us the historical and social bridge between philosophy and music. The common period mentioned is "20. yy ". The relationship between music and philosophy was questioned by the connection between the structure of the modern music of the 20th century and the music of Alban Berg and the thoughts of the philosopher and musicologist Theodor Adorno, who lived in the same era with Berg. This questioning was structured in the sample of Berg's "Lulu" opera in connection with Adorno's musical thoughts. In this way, the musical understanding of a period in music education was studied together with the philosophical approaches of a thinker who lived at that time. Thus, the need for philosophical thinking in an educational approach to 20th century music was emphasized, and the importance of contemporary art and music education not only in form but in factual and conceptual thinking, has been emphasized.
