In this study, it is aimed to examine the relationship between the personality characteristics of parents and the social skills of the children. Within the scope of this basic aim; it is surveyed that if the personal characteristics of parents and the social skills of their children differentiates or not according to several variables. The sample which is regulated in accordance of the relational screening model is consisted of the 315 children in the 4-6 age group and their parents which are getting education in 15 preschool education institutions (4 public and 11 private) that are located in European side of İstanbul province; Büyükçekmece, Beylikdüzü, Avcılar, Küçükçekmece and Esenler districts by simple random sampling method in 2016-2017 academic year. The data collection tools are; Parent Information Form, International Personality Inventory-Short Version (IPISV) and Preschool and Kindergarten Behaviour Scales-2 (PKBS-2). The data collected for the research were analyzed using SPSS 22 program. The findings obtained from the research are as follows: There is a significant relationship between the personality characteristics of parents and the social skills of their children. Personality characteristics of parents differentiate in significant levels according to the sex, level of income and the geographical district growed up. Social skills of the children differentiate in significant levels according to the type of preschool, the employment status of mother and the level of income.
