1573208375 IMPERIAL MILITARY SCHOOL AND OTTOMAN MEDICAL SCHOOL IN EDUCATION OF TURKISH PAINTING

In the early nineteenth century, developments in science and technology reflected in military and added new dimensions in martial art. Ottoman state kept up with these developments and in 1826, uninstalled the guild of janisseries which was regarded as the basic of traditional military structure. Thus, in order to meet the officer requirement of the new army, in İmperial School of Naval Engineering opened in 1795 in İstanbul, Eyüp so that it could train artillery and engineer officers. And later in 1834, imperial military school opened with the order of Sultan Mahmut II. Imperial military school and Ottoman medical school have big importance in education of Turkish painting. These schools are especially the ones which educated the Çallı generation and in these schools the artists who marked a period in Turkish painting were educated.
