The black amber known as Oltu stone or Erzurum amber in our country is extracted from the Oltu district of Erzurum as it is understood from its name. The Oltu stone, which is produced as various jewelry and ornamental items, especially rosaries, extracted in the small mines since the 19th century in the territories of Oltu and its surroundings, is one of the most important sources of livelihood of Erzurum province. Oltu stone, which has a history of more than 200 years, has increased its value with the Republican period even more in our country. For some years, it continued its existence in the form of a profession that passed from father to son. One of today's skilled craftsmen who continues this tradition and learns of Oltu stone rosary from his father Eyup Gümüş is İsrafil Gümüş, and he keeps going his studies for handing down this craft to the next generations. This study provides that rosary designing is continued at the present time as well and it gives information about Oltu Stone, Oltu stone rosary design and skilled craftsman İsmail Gümüş.
