1407507129 PRE-MODELLING PROCESS IN THE ART OF SCULPTURE AND THREE-DIMENSIONAL PRINTER PRACTICES

Three dimensional printers (3D Printers) which are currently used in the fields of industry, architecture and medicine are extending their areas of usage more every day. This system which is especially applied at the stage of pre-modeling is often preferred by the designers as it is fast and economic. Such printers which are new in the field of art are capable of showing functional errors of the work with CAD programs for three-dimensional productions. In this study, the use of three-dimensional printers which produce the digital designs in a layered form with the help of dust and binders in sculpture pre-modeling is examined.
The first part of the study is about pre-modeling stage in the arts of sculpture, and explains the importance of pre-modeling in this art discipline. In the second part, the operation system of three-dimensional printers is examined, and the relation of such devices with art, craft and design fields is evaluated. In the conclusion part of the study, positive and negative situations of pre-modeling produced by this technology are discussed.
